Seating for Six (After LeWitt) evolved from Love Seats, an isometric study in which two identical chairs are arranged in a series of sexually suggestive configurations.
The sculpture extends this graphic investigation into physical space, expanding the relationship between two chairs into a continuous structure for six.
Its title acknowledges Sol LeWitt’s use of predetermined systems and serial variation. Here, that logic is applied to a familiar social object, producing a work that sits ambiguously between sculpture, furniture and diagram.
